Are you a dreamer?
Is there something you've always dreamt of doing, having or being?
Like many of you, I too am a dreamer!
I imagine living a happy life, in a peaceful world, while experiencing joy, freedom, and fulfillment.
But in reality, it can be rough for dreamers like us.
Sometimes we desperately want to live a life different from the one were living.
The contrasts can be hard to accept.
However, when we make that one decision that now is the time and nothing will hold us back, that’s when our superpowers kick in.
Us dreamers have a unique gift. We can envision what we want before we have it.
Quite often we can even experience it and feel the emotions of our new reality before we ever create it.
Our ability to dream is a powerful gift as emotion invokes action.
Our thoughts and ideas have the power to propel us into action, and action has the potential to turn our dreams into reality.
A little over a year ago, I made the decision to commit to following my dreams.
I decided that now was the time, and I was just going to keep moving forward until my dreams became my reality.
I dedicated as much of my spare time as possible to fulfilling the two big dreams I had for my life.
I wrote these affirmations to help guide me.
"I educate and empower others to live the life of their dreams."
I repeated these affirmations over and over.
I created specific goals to help me move forward.
I even designed my environment to ensure I would have daily reminders of the dreams I was pursuing.
I believe that if we have a strong enough desire for something, and it’s morally right and beneficial to the people and the world around us, then it's possible to achieve it.
With support from people who care, and enough focus and effort, indeed we can create what we genuinely want in life.
When you set your mind to something that your heart desires, the universe magically seems to guide you.
You discover the right people, the right opportunities, and the right experiences, to help you grow into the person you wish to become.
"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as
Here are 3 lessons I've learned from pursuing my dreams.
Lesson 1 - Connect To Your Deeper Why
Anytime you start something new; there will be a lot of doubts, worries, and challenges.
In the beginning, you will have many reasons to give up or not even start at all.
Many doubts were passing through my mind when I started writing my book.
I found myself thinking, “I’m not a writer,” “Why would anyone read what I have to say?,” “It will never be good enough to make a difference.”
As you can imagine, with these type of thoughts, it was very hard to be creative and write what I wanted to share with the world.
To lessen the impact of these thoughts, I had to connect to my deeper why.
I needed something that would help me during the hard times when my doubts were the strongest.
I’m very thankful I connected to my why as there have been many times in the past year when I needed to silence unsupportive thoughts.
After using exercise in my book, I had journaled over 3 pages.
Eventually, I was able to summarize my why onto a post-it note.
It felt clear, concise, and most importantly it evoked emotion.
Your why has magical powers because it’s not about you.
It’s about something much bigger and much deeper.
When you know your why, you are pulled toward taking action to help you fulfill what's most important to you.
Here's the why that's helped me pursue my dreams.
Lesson 2 - Listen To Supportive Friends. They Can See What You Can't.
I remember a few years before I embarked on this journey, my friend Darrell, told me I should write a book.
He seemed to value my words of wisdom and encouragement an wished my thoughts were poured out into a book.
At the time, I certainly didn’t imagine I would be writing a book, but I was flattered that he thought my ideas and insights were worthy enough to write about.
In reality, that was probably the seed that sprouted this book, and I certainly appreciate his support and encouragement along the way.
Our friends see us from a different perspective.
They see who we are without the negative thoughts and limiting beliefs that flow through our minds.
Listen to what your supportive friends have to say.
Believe, that what they see in you, actually exists, because it does!
"What you believe to be true, is true for you."
Lesson 3 - FOCUS - Follow One Course Until Successful
Writing this book and working to build EagerlyGrowing.com took quite a bit longer than I had originally expected.
I had to postpone the publishing date for the book several times.
But I knew as long as I didn’t give up, it would be worth it.
During the hard times when things weren’t going my way, I just kept returning to one thought.
"Just keep going!"
As I would get back into action, I heard myself repeating this much better thought to keep the momentum moving forward.
“Okay, what's next?”
As you notice negative thoughts, it's important to improve them slowly.
Just think of a slightly better thought than the one you're thinking.
The next improved thought will begin to form, and your emotions will lift, spurring you toward positive action.
When you develop empowering thoughts to help you Follow One Course Until Successful, you will then discover how successful you can become.
I hope these 3 lessons help you in pursuing your dreams.
